Dear Friend of Ozark Mission Project,

Ozark Mission Project began in 1986 with one camp of 35 participants.  Like all healthy bodies, we have grown a lot.

  • 12 camps are held each summer

  • 600 youth and adults participate in OMP each summer

  • 450 neighbors are served each summer

  • 36 minimum (closer to 50) volunteers staff the camps

  • 8 college-age young adults comprise the paid staff for camps

  • 23 people volunteer all year to “run” OMP

  • 1 person is employed part time for administration of paper work

  • Neighbors are from all over our state

    • the delta of the Mississippi River

    • the valley of the Arkansas River

    • the hills of the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains

    • the timberlands of  the south

We have reached that point in our growth where it is time to make changes so that we may stay healthy and continue to grow.  We have already received approval for a 501(c)(3) status, which means we are now recognized by the federal government as a nonprofit organization.  We have restructured our governing body.  We now have an Executive Board comprised of community leaders and OMP volunteers, and an Advisory Committee of OMP volunteers.  Our next step is to hire an Executive Director.  Only by God’s grace has Ozark Mission Project sustained the phenomenal growth with just volunteers.

I invite you to be a part of Ozark Mission Project.  You have the opportunity to be a charter member of “Friends of OMP,” which will raise funds to match a $15,000 per year grant (for three years) from the United Methodist Foundation and additional money to fund OMP at our new level.  God has given us wonderful and exciting visions of the future of Ozark Mission Project, and I know you will want to be part of God’s plans.
